The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Logan Tait, who passed away on Monday, Nov. 28 at the age of 82.
Born in Vancouver, Tait studied commerce and became a chartered accountant. His love of sports brought him to Lethbridge. He played basketball with the Lethbridge Broder’s Chinooks and Lethbridge Nationals for three years, and represented Canada at five international basketball competitions, including the Pan Am and World Games. He was inducted into the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame in 1985 and into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 1988. Tait also coached the U of L’s men’s basketball team for a year and, in later years, became one of Canada’s finest senior racquetball players.
Active community supporters, Tait and his wife Jan were the first honorary chairs of the University of Lethbridge Festival of Art and Song. He also served on the Faculty of Management’s advisory council and helped with the U of L’s capital development campaign. A full obituary can be found on the Martin Brothers website.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. at Southminster United Church. The U of L will lower its flag that day in honour of Tait.
