Condolence Notice — Dr. Doug Inglis and Jenny Gusse — UPDATE

The University of Lethbridge community is saddened by the tragic passing of Dr. Doug Inglis and his partner Jenny Gusse this past weekend, and sends its deepest condolences to their families, and all faculty, staff and students who may have worked with or learned from Inglis and Gusse in their roles with ULethbridge.

Inglis and Gusse each worked for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and had many ties with ULethbridge, Inglis serving as an adjunct professor within the Department of Biological Sciences and Gusse as a research technician in the Inglis lab who supervised students on co-op placements.

Many ULethbridge students had the opportunity to work with both Inglis and Gusse through co-op work terms and applied studies placements, most recently on summer research projects that investigated intestinal diseases and novel treatment methods for both human beings and livestock. Their work crossed disciplinary boundaries and included students studying agricultural biotechnology, agricultural studies, biochemistry, biological sciences, general science and neuroscience.

“The faculty and staff in the Career Bridge Centre Co-operative Education program are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Doug Inglis and Jenny Gusse,” says Stacey Gaudette-Sharp, Academic Director with Career Bridge. “Both Doug and Jenny were valued partners in our community of practice, hiring and mentoring many students over the years. I have no doubt that the impact they have had on the lives of students, simply by investing time and energy to teach and guide young scientists, has had an immeasurable positive impact on the world. We will miss them dearly.”

UPDATE: A Celebration of Life for Doug and Jenny will be held in Lethbridge on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at the Coast Hotel, Continental Room (526 Mayor Magrath Dr S).
