Title: Embodiment in counselling practice: What it means and why it matters 

Abstract: This seminar will explore "embodiment" and what it can look like in the counselling setting. We will briefly review the research behind body based practices as we learn how incorporating yoga and body based interventions into the therapeutic counselling space can provide powerful healing. 

Bio: Heather Rowland (she/her) is a Registered Clinical Social Worker and Registered Yoga Teacher providing individual, group, supervision and yoga services. She has a passion for working with relational and systemic trauma and tends to incorporate more holistic and body based models into her work. She believes in the power of connection, community and body-based approaches to invite in healing on individual, organization and cultural levels and is dedicated to gently deconstructing the systemic harms implicit in the counselling and wellness industries.
