Indigenous Wellness Wednesday Initative presents University of Lethbridge Honorary Degree Recipient Dr. Christina Fox:
Dr. Christina Fox Iitsisaanoowa (Vision Beyond) is a proud Blackfoot woman. Christina is a mother of four, grandmother of eighteen, and great grandmother of fifteen. Despite Christina’s experience as a Residential School Survivor, she has shown her resilience and turned a negative experience into a positive one where she could advocate for children. Working with the K-12 education for twenty years, Christina has not only supported children, but parents, community members, and wherever she could offer assistance and guidance. Christina is recently retired but continues to educate and share her knowledge from the various capacities of employment she held; Detox Centre, Kainai Children Services, Counselling Services and for the last twenty-seven years in the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division. During her years of employment, Christina would also hold positions as a presenter, facilitator, and most recently Keynote Speaker for the Alberta Teacher’s Association (ATA) University of Lethbridge. Christina has most recently become the author of two books; My Suitcase – Nii Sookayis and Journey of the Heart. When she is not writing, she is assisting the larger community by being active on various boards providing her knowledge to the community at the local and provincial levels.
Dr. Christina Fox was presented with an honorary doctor of laws, honoris causa, from the University of Lethbridge last year.
