"Portals to the mundane"

September 20 | Noon | University Recital Hall
Free admission, everyone welcome

Amanda Chwelos (b. 1996) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Edmonton-amiskwaciwâskahikan whose work explores themes of banality, anxiety, and acceptance. Driven by a material-based practice, she works primarily in painting and drawing.

Chwelos holds a BFA from the University of Alberta (2019) and remains an active member in both the Edmonton arts community and the broader Albertan arts community. Her work has been subject to many group exhibitions across Alberta and most recently, Chwelos exhibited her first out-of-town solo exhibition titled Soft enough to slip through at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge, Alberta.

The artist joins us via Zoom in the recital hall for this lecture. Thank you to the Southern Alberta Art Gallery for their collaboration in making this artist talk possible.
