Join the Department of Philosophy for the following presentation:
My Last Lecture, and What Comes Next: Reflections on Wholes, Parts, and Perils
Guest Speaker: Dr. Kent Peacock (Department of Philosophy)
Day/Date: Tuesday, April 2, 2024
Location: M-1060 (Markin Hall)
Time: 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
I reflect on my 28-year teaching and research career at the University of Lethbridge. What has most deeply fascinated me is the complementarity between wholes and parts, both in philosophy of physics and ecology. I argue that failure to see the obvious in both areas is one of humanity’s on-going survival threats. I will explain what I mean by this and sketch some directions for future inquiry.
