6 pm | November 6, 2023
Room L1060, LINC Building
Free admission, everyone welcome

Architects shape space with purpose. Using psychological cues and visual prompts our work intentionally influences how a person perceives and uses a space. Through seemingly simple gestures design can have a profound effect on our psyche and on the community beyond.

Biography

After graduating with a degree in Art History from Smith College, Elizabeth Songer worked with a small team of New Hampshire contractors who specialized in historic restoration. She continued her construction experience overseas with the Peace Corps, building potable water structures in Zaire.

When she returned to the States, she earned her Master’s Degree in Architecture from Rice University. She was in-house designer at the Texas Medical Center before joining Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Co. where she worked on college and university housing, theatres, and community centres. After moving to Canada, she contracted locally with Savill Group Architecture Ltd. until founding SONGER architecture inc in 2011.

As the Principal Architect at SONGER architecture inc, Elizabeth has led the SAinc team on a number of civic and commercial projects—rapidly earning a reputation for quality and innovative design. With considerable knowledge in theatres and acoustics, Elizabeth enjoys working on Arts Facilities projects.
