Metamorphosis

Tim Beattie's ‘Metamorphosis’ is a sonic exploration of change and transformation. Featuring arrangements and original works for solo guitar by Leo Brouwer and Philip Glass.

About the artist

Tim Beattie’s performance career has taken him to stages across North America and Europe, with appearances at The Bath Festival, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Cleveland International Guitar Festival, Concertgebouw Amsterdam (opening for Ludovico Einaudi), FirstOntario Concert Hall (opening for KD Lang), Kitara Nova Festival (Helsinki), Koerner Hall (opening for Jean-Michel Blais), Lammermuir Festival (UK), Perth Summer Festival (UK), Théâtre du Vaudeville Brussels, Yellow Barn (USA), 2021 UN Climate Conference (Glasgow), among many others. Beattie has appeared on radio and television broadcasts, including Dutch National TV and BBC Radio Scotland.

Since winning the 2018 Brussels International Guitar Competition, Tim has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants from the Amsterdam University of the Arts, Canada Council for the Arts, Cleveland Institute of Music, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Royal Overseas League, Sylva Gelber Foundation, Tillett Trust, Worshipful Company of Musicians; and top prizes at the international guitar competitions in Antwerp, Brussels, Calgary, Hamilton, Leicester, and Uppsala.

Tim is an Associate Teacher of Guitar at the University of St Andrews (UK). He has been invited to carry out teaching residencies at the Alberta Strings Association, Calgary Classical Guitar Society, Mount Royal University, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, University of Alberta, University of Lethbridge, and University of Regina Conservatory.
