TheatreXtra presents: A Euphonic Double Bill
A Euphonic Double Bill features TWO student written Queer scripts, both inspired by music and presented back-to-back every show! The production runs from March 21st- 23rd nightly at 7:30 PM and a Saturday Matinee at 1:30 PM. The first piece, North Star, Adrianne by Leo Hyink and directed by Celine Man, was the 2023 winner of the UofL Playwrights Prize. Softly inspired by Rule #2 – Moonlight by Fish in a Birdcage, North Star, Adrianne follows roommates, Adrianne and Stella, navigating a new relationship and complicated pasts. Stargazing and soul-searching, this piece is filled with questions of where you belong and how to let yourself be loved. The second piece, Boreas by Mirielle Nieuwenhuis, co-directed by Achilles Friesen and Mirielle Nieuwenhuis, was imagined first as a Devised II final project in collaboration with Ahona Sanyal. Inspired by an album of the same title by The Oh-Hellos, Boreas uses object theatre to explore identity, motherhood, and guilt. As the titular character Boreas, a wife and mother, struggles to be a homemaker, she pursues an affair with She, sending her life on an unpredictable path. Tickets are available at the Box Office (Level 6 Atrium, UCA) Monday - Friday, 12:30pm - 3:30pm or online: ulethbridge.ca/tickets. Tickets are $13 adult, $12 alumni and senior, $8 student.
