Navigating grief through creation. In this talk, alumna Eileen Murray discusses how her painting practice has enabled her to experience difficult emotion during an extended period of both personal and collective grief. She'll also provide a walk through of the current exhibition held at the Trianon Gallery.
M. Eileen Murray is a visual artist who’s work is materiality based and exploits the physical characteristics of painted surfaces, ceramics and photographs to serve as metaphors for bravado, material excess and accumulation. Murray holds an MFA from the University of Saskatchewan and a BFA, Great Distinction, from the University of Lethbridge. She lives and maintains a full time studio practice in Lethbridge, Alberta. Murray has participated in solo and group exhibitions throughout Western Canada, Malaysia and Mexico.
Eileen Murray's exhibition, In the shadow of Summer, is on view from November 28, 2020 to January 9, 2021 at Trianon Gallery (104 - 5 St. S), in cooperation with Savill Group Architecture. The artist will be at Trianon Gallery on Fridays from 2 - 5 pm (excluding holidays) during the run of the exhibition.
