Dr. Miranda Leibel is Assistant Professor and Evelyn Hamilton Chair of Liberal Education, in the School of Liberal Education, and affiliate of the Prentice Institute.
In this talk, Dr. Leibel will present their research on the post office and how overlapping dimensions of the postal services were, and are, central to Canadian state-building. Their lecture will illuminate the international discussion surrounding colonialism, state-building, and postal systems. Timely and significant, this talk serves to spotlight a preliminary step in imagining how government infrastructures could be deployed in radical new ways, and perhaps lead to reimagining seemingly mundane infrastructure to new and transformative uses.
This event is free to attend either in L1102 in the Library or on zoom.
