As a multidisciplinary artist and mental health practitioner, mezzo-soprano Jeanine Williams presents a collaborative recital with Bente Hansen highlighting mental and emotional health through the canon of classical music. Tuesday, October 10, 2023 is the WHO World Mental Health Day. To honor this important day of education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma each work presented represents the shifting perspectives on mental health and wellness while demonstrating the timeless nature of these issues. 

Jeanine Williams is a creative soul noted for the “size and character of her singing, and her thoughtful musicality.” (classicalottawa.com) She is currently based in Calgary, Alberta where she runs her own therapeutic and recreation music & wellness studio, Medela YYC. After completing her Master of Music at the University of Ottawa, Ms. Williams has performed across Canada as well as Austria (2018). Williams’ recent performances include the premiere of contemporary composer Rob Hunter’s Good Story at GRAND theatre, and a collaborative recital for Pro Arts Society. Jeanine will make her debut with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra during the 23/24 Season. Searching for wellness through art, Williams aspires to foster expressive spaces and assist in both the performance and creation of Canadian music today.
