Music at Noon concert series presents:
Dr. Daniel Ramjattan, guitar
12:15 p.m. | January 30, 2024
University Recital Hall

A program featuring three diverse masterworks that push the guitar to its expressive limits. This recital includes J.S. Bach's famous Ciaccona for solo violin, Brazilian guitarist Sergio Assad's Aquarelle, and French-Tunisian composer Roland Dyens' popular Libra Sonatine.

Dr. Daniel Ramjattan's diverse career has taken him to venues in Austria, Italy, and various locations across Canada, the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, and Japan. He has premiered dozens of new works and received top awards in provincial and national competitions.

His debut studio album, "Inspirations: New Works for Solo Guitar," features his performances of six brilliant works by Canadian composers, including three world premieres. CBC Radio’s Paolo Pietropaolo featured the album as his Record of the Week in March 2022, and WholeNote Magazine described his playing as "beautifully clean."

Informed by his Buddhist practice and his passion for performance psychology and mental health, Daniel's Doctor of Musical Arts dissertation focused on music performance anxiety in classical guitarists, leading him to give lectures and coaching on this topic in Canada's top academic institutions, including McGill and the University of Toronto, as well as in the West Indies and California.

Free admission, all are welcome to attend
