The French Language Centre and the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics present a special guest speaker event:

Dominique Prinet

Join Dominique Prinet, pilot and author of Flying to the Extremes: Memories of a Northern Bush Pilot (2021) as he shares stories and pictures of his northern adventures while he was a young pilot in the Canadian Arctic in the late '60s and '70s.

Dominique Prinet has an engineering degree from UBC and an MBA from McGill. He has taught economics to MBA students at McGill for 13 years while serving as vice-president for the regional carrier Nordair. In 1988, he moved to Vancouver to become VP of Canadian Pacific Airlines. He then spent five years in Africa and managed the national airline, Air Tanzania, before returning to Vancouver to operate his own sailing school. He has published five books: four on coastal and celestial marine-navigation and one on bush flying in the Arctic. Flying to Extremes is available in English and French.

Dominique Prinet is also one of the authors invited to the Word on the Street Festival on Saturday, Sept. 23.
