Plant Growth Facility
Plant Growth Facility
The University of Lethbridge Plant Growth Facility is a group of resources dedicated to research grade, environmentally controlled plant growth for experimental research. Our resources include a state-of-the-art modern greenhouse and a large number of growth chambers.
Core Facility Model
The plant growth facility operates under our core facility model. This model utilises a fee per use system where a small fee is accumulated from users and used for the long-term maintenance and repair of the facilities to ensure their longevity and operational efficiency.

User Information
The plant growth facility is available for use to anyone both in the University, and external industry. Researchers are given priority of the space available but industry or academic institutions can use excess space when it becomes available. The facility is managed by staff members.
Greenhouse
The Science Commons Greenhouse has automated controls for temperature, humidity, air circulation and lighting in addition to optional automated irrigation valves and power outlets which can control other systems such as pumps.
Growth Chambers
The plant growth facility has a large number of growth chambers. They vary in size, lighting, humidity and remote control options. Like the greenhouse, these are also managed by plant growth facility staff and controls can be modified by the staff or the user. Growth chambers are also available for use by external industry or academic institutions but priority of space is given to University of Lethbridge researchers.
