Inaugurated at the University of Lethbridge's Spring 2003 Convocation, School of Graduate Studies Medals of Merit are awarded to graduating students from each degree program for excellence in their studies. Graduating with a Master's of Counselling and majoring in applied psychology, Sydney Gelineau-Olay (MC '24) is now a recipient of this prestigious award!

Darol and Evelyn Wigham believed in the importance of giving back and showing gratitude for the doors opened by higher education. Shortly after their daughter, Patricia, completed her Bachelor of Education in 1981, Darol and Evelyn began what has turned into an incredible legacy at ULethbridge.

Jade Oldfield Wins International Chess Award

Every year, Chess.com select five students to win a Chessable Research Award. This prestigious international prize is awarded on an annual basis to graduate and undergraduate students conducting university-level chess research. As the largest chess corporation in the world with over 100 million subscribers, to say the odds of being selected are one in a million would not be an oversight. Leaving nothing to chance, University of Lethbridge alumna and current neuroscience student, Jade Oldfield (BEd ‘18), is now a 2024 Chessable Research Award winner.

Hayley Bedard Wins William Aberhart Gold Medal in Education

Each year, the Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA) awards the William Aberhart Gold Medal in Education. This award is given to the University of Lethbridge Faculty of Education student who attains the highest general proficiency in the final two years of a Bachelor of Education program. This year's recipient is Hayley Bedard (BA/BEd '24).
