U of L to join other Canadian universities in a moment of silence to honour crash victims

Tuesday, January 14, 2020

The University of Lethbridge will join with Universities Canada and universities from across the country to observe a moment of silence in honour of those who lost their lives on Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752.

All 176 passengers and crew, 57 of them Canadians, aboard the flight were killed after the jet was shot down shortly after takeoff from Tehran, Iran on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Many of those who perished were members of Canada’s university communities and their tragic loss has impacted families, friends and colleagues not only in our home province of Alberta, but across the country.

We invite members of the broader community to participate in this event by joining our community or by marking the moment however they wish.

Who: U of L students, staff and faculty

What: Moment of silence

When: Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 11 a.m.

Where: Markin Hall Atrium, University of Lethbridge
