Wellness Workshops provide opportunities for students to develop more effective strategies to maintain positive mental health. You can self-register in any of the workshops, where you will gain strategies and create plans to make positive changes in your behaviours and overall wellness. Register today!
Wellness Workshops | Fall 2024 Offerings
Attention + Skill Development (ADHD)
This workshop is being offered by the Accessible Learning Centre and Counselling Services.
Who? This workshop is intended for students with a formal medical diagnosis of ADD/ADHD.
What? This workshop series will provide specific tools to work with your ADHD, not against it. Some topics that will be covered are:
- Organization, planning and scheduling
- Prioritizing and breaking down tasks
- Reducing distractibility
- Adaptive thinking
- Procrastination
Why? The sessions will provide you with knowledge, skills and tools that will benefit you both during your university years and after you begin your career.
When? Starting October 1st this group will run weekly on Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. for 6 weeks (excluding reading week).
Where? In-person. SU065 (Accessible Learning Centre).

Psychological Flexibility: Acting on ACT Principles
Who? This workshop is for any student who would like to learn how to adapt to various demands in the social and academic environment, shift perspective and relationship to thoughts and feelings, and be actively present in pursuit of individual goals that align with personal values.
What? Using ACT principles, this workshop will help you learn skills and tool for:
- Changing behaviors and habits
- Awareness of thoughts and feelings
- Sense of Motivation
Why? The social and academic demands that happen during your university journey can be challenging. Whether you are in your first semester or are near the end of your degree, this workshop will provide you with tools and skills to adapt to change, improve your awareness of your thoughts and feelings, and tap into your own sense of motivation. The sessions will provide you with knowledge, skills and tools that will benefit you both during your university years and beyond.

Exam Anxiety Workshop
Who? This single-session style workshop is for anyone who wants to gain more skills for coping with test anxiety to enhance their performance anxiety. **Each date below is a single-session, meaning the material will be the same each time.
What? In this workshop, students with be provided with tools and strategies to manage exam anxiety, including an introduction to exam anxiety, grounding exercises, normalizing anxiety, and strategic studying techniques.
Why? If anxiety negatively impacts your academic performance, please consider attending. The workshop will provide you with knowledge, skills and tools that will benefit you during your university years and after you begin your career.
When? This workshop will run four times throughout the semester at 3:30 p.m. via Zoom

Introduction to Mindfulness
Who? This workshop is for students who are looking for a simple but sincere way of nurturing daily mindfulness in their lives. No previous experience of mindfulness or meditation is necessary.
What? This workshop series will offer introductory mindfulness practices, including breath-work and theme-based meditations to offer students a space to both learn and integrate awareness, presence, and heartfulness in their daily life.
Why? Mindfulness and breath-work practices offer a foundational way in which to strengthen awareness, ease stress, and live from the heart. Student life can be hectic and challenging, and mindfulness can support intentional ways of befriending and navigating these challenges.
When? This workshop will run three times throughout the semester on the following Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Myth of Motivation
Who? For students willing to explore why they struggle with personal and academic motivation, and find ways to develop routines to build momentum.
What? Using evidence-based research, we will discuss topics related to motivation such as willpower, tenacity, how to build better daytime and nighttime routines, and the need to establish personal and social accountability.
Why? Our goal is to uncover new information to advance students coping skills, routines, and find the rhythm to move forward towards personal and academic goals.
When? Once a month on Thursdays, in-person.

Drop-In Summer Art Workshop
Who? Any student wanting to experience self-care, self-regulation, and connection through art and craft making.
What? Art materials provided. Feel free to bring any extra supplies you wish to incorporate. No art making experience necessary.
Why? The act of creating and art-making provides an alternate way to express feelings and thoughts that may be difficult to articulate in talk therapy. Viewing images and forms concretely can help provide answers and further questions, and the process of “making” can be therapeutic in itself.
When? Wednesdays afternoons, starting May 8th until June 26th, from 1:30pm-3pm (excluding May 15).
Where? Andy's Place, AH100, every Wednesday (except June 5th, the location will be held in AH117 ).

Counselling Services offers a variety of workshops to help students with specific tools and strategies to thrive.
Art Journaling Workshops
Who? Any student wanting to experience self-discovery, development and self-care through artmaking and journaling
What? Stand alone monthly workshops exploring themes of identity, self-compassion and personal process. Art materials provided. Feel free to bring any extra supplies and your own personal journal/sketch book. No art making experience necessary.
Why? Art therapy workshops provide an alternate way to express feelings and thoughts, and an excellent opportunity to regulate and connect with others. Viewing images and forms concretely can help provide answers and further questions, and the process of “making” can be therapeutic in and of itself.
When? This workshop will be offered three times during the fall semester.

- Thursday, Oct. 26, 3-4:30 pm
- Thursday, Nov. 30, 3-4:30 pm
This workshop is offered as a single session. You are welcome to attend on any of the days it is delivered. Register for one, two or three of the workshops!
