Art NOW Series: Skawennati
Friday, Jan. 11., noon to 12:50 p.m., Recital Hall, W570
Skawennati makes art that addresses history, the future and change from an Indigenous perspective. She is best known for her machinimas, which are movies made in virtual environments. Among her groundbreaking new media projects are the online gallery/chat space and mixed-reality event called CyberPowWow and the machinimas TimeTraveller.

U of L Brass Day
Saturday, Jan. 12, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., W470, W480 and W570
Brass musicians from high schools, university and the community will take participate in a day filled with rehearsals, workshops, masterclasses and performances. In addition to members of the U of L Brass faculty, Laurie Matiation (Calgary Philharmonic) and Natalie DeJong (Mount Royal Conservatory) will join members of the U of L Audio Engineering Society for a day of learning, playing music and meeting other musicians. The day culminates with a 7 p.m. performance in the Recital Hall.
