The listing below includes indexes, collections of literature by publisher or repository, and finally reference tools. Biosis Citation Index and Web of Science Core Collection (citation databases that track the evolution of research in a given field), PubMed (focus on biomedical literature), Bio & Ag Index and Environment Complete are all indexes. BioOne, Sciencedirect, Wiley, NRC, Proquest Science, JoVE Biology, and bioRxiv are all databases of journals by publisher or repository (i.e., not all inclusive). The Reference tools include the Encyclopedia of Life Sciences, Encyclopedia of Life and the Biodiversity Heritage Library. RELATED databases are just that, peripherally related or less specific to the field of biology.
