Around 2:30 a.m.we left White Lake and entered the Kovzha River. The morning was spent enjoying life along the river. Along with 220 other villages, the village of Kovzha was flooded as part of the upriver canal construction. Then around noon we passed through the first lock of the Volga - Baltic Canal system. By 5:00 p.m. we had passed through six locks.

We were able to see the locks ahead all lined up.
Around 4:30 in the afternoon we were invited to taste Russian Blini with vodka and caviar. Is it possible this was a plot to get us ready for The Neptune’s Festival held later in the evening. (Neptune is the great king of rivers & lakes.)
A young person fishing waved to us about 5:30 p.m. as we passed by the town of Vytegra and entered the Vytegra Canal, part of the Volga - Baltic waterway.
In the early evening we entered Onega Lake, one of the largest in Europe. It is 170 miles long, 60 miles wide, with an average depth of 350 feet.
