1845 Franklin Expedition |
||||||
In August 2000 we boarded the Russian ship Lyubov Orlova in Canada's Northwest Passage and presented a copy of our sketchbook on John Palliser to Corporal Clare Kines (centre) of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The presentation was to honour Lt. Walter Fairholme who was part of the ill-fated 1845 Franklin Expedition. The disappearance of Sir John Franklin and his crew set off one of the greatest rescue operations in the history of exploration. The Fairholmes had close connections to the Palliser family at "Comeragh House" County Waterford, Ireland |
