The Consul (Model EOTA 1951-1956) was a roomy six seater with a McPherson strut suspension that was fun to drive except... our car's motor was a complete disaster. I am told it was the first British Ford to have an overhead valve engine. They hadn't perfected it when they built ours. | |||||||||
Many British cars didn't stand up to Canadian distances of high speed driving,
Also, service was limited for British cars. As I recall the motor had to be rebuilt at 18,000 miles. The car then crept along for a few more months. Here, we had to tow it home. |
