Dennis Connolly - 2009
Mathematics and Computer Science faculty member Dennis Connolly exemplifies the spirit of giving back to the community.
An employee of the University of Lethbridge since 1967, Dennis Connolly's generosity and support extends throughout the University and the wider community. He is a regular at campus events, and avid fan of all Pronghorn teams, and an attendee at most of the UofL's fine arts events. Dennis seldom misses a Pronghorn team game, and shares his enthusiasm with his students, and is always one of the first to congraulate the athletes and share the success of the teams with the students and others. A huge supporter of the campus United Way campaigns, Dennis was the biggest contributor to the 2003 silent auction and usually buys United Way Cash Calendars for himself, his students, and others.
In 2005, Dennis volunteered as Co-Chair of the Supporting Our Students campaign. By the conclusion of this campaign, 40% of faculty and staff contributed to student scholarships, one of the highest participation rates in Canada. In the Supporting Our Students campaign material, Dennis Connolly wrote of the reason for contributing to the campaign: "The main reason for the University is the students and I want to give something back."
In recognition of his efforts to promote and support a positive school spirit, Dennis Connolly is the very deserving recipient of the 2009 Senate Volunteer Award for volunteer work on behalf of the University of Lethbridge.
