Aileen Cormican
Dr Aileen Cormican graduated with her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS) in 2011 from the University of Queensland, after completing a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours, 2006) and Masters in Biomedical Technology at the University of Calgary (2008). Dr Cormican was awarded the prestigious full-tuition Chancellor’s Scholarship at the University of Calgary for academic excellence and exceptional contributions to the University, community life, leadership and volunteerism. Dr Cormican became a specialist Fellow with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists in 2020, completed a MRI musculoskeletal Fellowship with Queensland X-Ray and commenced with Queensland X-Ray as a Consultant Radiologist in 2020. Dr Cormican holds a diverse medical portfolio, and holds credentials and appointments with AHPRA, MCNZ, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), Alberta Health Services, works at the Chinook Regional Hospital as a senior staff specialist and at Lethbridge Radiology Associates and is CEO of her own international teleradiology company Chinook Imaging Specialists. Dr Cormican is a member of the Australasian Musculoskeletal Imaging Group (AMSIG), the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) and the Radiology Society of North America (RSNA), and has published several esteemed research peer-reviewed articles. With an unabashed drive for humanitarian work, community service and teaching, Dr Cormican volunteers with Radiology Across Borders (RAB) and at the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen, is a Clinical Lecturer and Associate Professor with James Cook University and the University of Queensland (respectively), currently sits on several boards, councils and associations, including an active member of the Alberta Medical Association, Alberta Medical Association Diagnostic Imaging Division, the Alberta South Zone Medical Association, Board Member of SOCA and participates in her church’s pastoral council. Aileen is a Harvard Alumni Associate Member and graduated from Harvard Medical School’s Global Healthcare Leaders Program and from Yale’s School of Management Executive Business Program. Having grown up in Lethbridge and studied abroad, Aileen brings a wealth of knowledge, worldly experience and connections to the University of Lethbridge. Aileen is humbled to work alongside and with these other esteemed community leaders, and has a vested interest in our city’s post-secondary education, especially in the context of a newly formed Rural Medical Program at U of L. In her spare time, Aileen loves reading, the arts and music, curling, and especially the mountains. Dr Cormican is humbly delighted to serve on the Senate at the University of Lethbridge.
