Contemporary Emotion Research & Its Relevance for Clinical Practice
Tuesday, April 3, 3 p.m., M1035, Markin Hall
Tremendous growth in emotion research across many disciplines, including psychology, neuroscience, sociology, philosophy and computational sciences, have led to the emergence of a new discipline called affective science. Dr. Eva Hudlicka, Fulbright-Palix Distinguished Research Chair, principal scientist at Psychometrix Associates and part-time lecturer at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, will discuss findings from recent emotion research, explore contemporary emotion theories and highlight their relevance for clinical practice.

Annual Luke Stebbins Undergraduate Research Symposium
Thursday, April 5, noon to 3 p.m., PE Atrium, 1st Choice Savings Centre
Sponsored by the biology department, this event will see undergraduate students displaying poster presentations in the hopes of capturing first or second place and a cash prize. Students will be available to discuss their research and answer questions.

Social Inequality and Sports Participation in the ‘Pay for Play’ Society

Dr. Richard Gruneau, a professor in the School of Communication at Simon Fraser University, will talk about his mapping research and analysis of changes in sport organization, participation, celebration and support, as reflected in opportunities and participation among Canada’s youth and adults.

Department of History Graduate Student Colloquium
Friday, April 6, 3 to 5 p.m., AH176, Anderson Hall
Four graduate students will showcase their work on diverse topics such as religion in the burned-over district of New York where the Second Great Awakening took place, relationships between siblings during the First World War, rural women and the intergenerational transfer of the family farm and Mennonite migration from Mexico to Alberta.

Screen printing is on the agenda at this session of Culture Vulture. Participants will build their own screen and produce multiples of a unique image.
