Registration for Spooky Science Weekend opens Thursday

Parents who want to avoid being haunted by their children this Halloween can register them for the popular Spooky Science Weekend beginning Thursday, October 8.

Children aged five to 12 are invited to participate in a variety of Halloween-themed science activities in three separate sessions at the University of Lethbridge. Youngsters will be creating stomp rockets, performing crime scene investigations, using ghost cannons and making ice cream using liquid nitrogen.

The weekend is organized by University of Lethbridge science students who volunteer for the national Let’s Talk Science Outreach program. Their goal is to share their passion for science with children to increase public access to science and inspire students to pursue careers in science.

Three sessions are available:

Friday, October 23, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Saturday, October 24, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m.

All sessions will be held at the U of L. For safety reasons, only 100 children can attend a single event and children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is free but mandatory and opens Thursday at 8 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit the Let’s Talk Science webpage for more information. Parents can register online for Spooky Science Weekend.
