Advisory - U of L to announce nearly $2 million for neuroscience research
Media are invited to join the University of Lethbridge as it announces Canadian Institutes for Health Research funding grants for two research projects involving U of L neuroscientists.
These research projects focus on aspects of Alzheimer’s disease: one will look at cognitive reserve and the other will examine how plaques in the brain affect neurons that serve as the brain’s compass.

Why – According to 2016 figures from Alzheimer Society Canada, 564,000 Canadians were living with dementia, of which Alzheimer’s disease is the main cause. Those numbers are expected to increase by 66 per cent to 937,000 in 15 years.
