Taya Krueger was born and raised in Lethbridge and enrolled at the University of Lethbridge in Fall 2021.
She is a 4th year undergraduate BSc. Kinesiology student, with plans to pursue a master’s degree in Physical Therapy after graduation in Spring 2025. Taya is a community minded individual with a strong desire to learn.
One of the reasons she chose the UofL was for the smaller class sizes that she believes have led to countless learning opportunities, helping further her education. In addition, this setting has enabled her to connect with her professors.
Throughout her undergraduate degree she has taken an interest in academic endeavours involving the mind and the body. She has spent the past two years volunteering with Pronghorn athletics as a student trainer and has held multiple roles within counselling services at the University. This year Taya is working as a teaching assistant for Kinesiology 1000. Through this position she hopes to share her interest in the enticing field of kinesiology with others. Taya believes “getting involved in many areas at the University has really flourished my professional communication skills with others and allowed me to gain greater perspectives about my future endeavours.”
As for her academic career at the university, she has made the Dean’s honour list each semester and has been granted various awards and scholarships that exemplify her achievements in both academics and community involvement. Taya is taking part in an applied study under Dr. Kelsey Kendellen this year. She is looking forward to sharing her knowledge with other students and broadening her horizons.
In the community, Taya is involved with many organizations. Through these roles she strives to create positive change and inspire others. Lacrossing Barriers, the Alberta Sport and Recreation for the Blind, Dopamine Boxing, and the Student Wellness Ambassador Program are all organizations she has had the pleasure of volunteering with. Over the past few years, she has brought a positive mindset to each of these organizations and believes that her time spent with them has given her learning opportunities that go beyond the classroom. These experiences have taught Taya the importance of helping others and have made her a strong leader. Taya is grateful for her time at the University of Lethbridge and is excited to see what the future has in store for her upon graduation this spring.
