Biography
Janay earned her B.A. (with distinction) in History at the University of Lethbridge in 1995. Her M.A. (1997) and Ph.D. (2004) were both earned from the Department of History/Scottish Studies at the University of Guelph.
Janay joined the Department of History at the University of Lethbridge in 2003. She is the co-author of "Union and Revolution: Scotland and Beyond, 1625-1745" (Edinburgh University Press, 2020) with Laura Stewart and co-editor with Elizabeth Ewan of "Children and Youth in Premodern Scotland" (Boydell & Brewer, 2015) and "Finding the Family in Medieval and Early Modern Scotland" (Ashgate, 2008; Routledge, 2016).
In addition to teaching for the History Department, Janay occasionally teaches for Women and Gender Studies and the School of Liberal Education. She served as Board of Governor's Teaching Chair (2017-2019), was awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award (2016) and the University of Lethbridge Students' Union Teaching Excellence Award (2015).
In the summer of 2020, Janay joined the Dean's team in the Faculty of Arts and Science as an Associate Dean.
