About Me

Upon completing my Ph.D in Economics in 1985, I was hired by the University of Regina and worked there for 16 years. I became Professor of Economics in 1995, and Head of the Department of Economics in 1997. Courses taught included microeconomic theory, macroeconomics, international economics and econometrics. In 2001 my family and I relocated to Lethbridge where I became Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science, a post I held for 12 years. On September 1, 2012, while still servicing as Dean, I began serving as Acting University Librarian and effective July 1, 2013, I accepted an appointment as University Librarian for a three-year term.

From the perspective of peer-review types of contributions, amongst other things, I have served as a member of the Editorial Board of the Canadian Journal of Economics, and a member of the Executive Council of the Canadian Economics Association. If you would like to see some research papers and other projects that I am working on, there are PostScript and PDF files for these at http://people.uleth.ca/~nicolc/papers. I am also keenly interested in macroeconomic policy debates, especially those arising in the wake of the financial crisis of 2008. Several items related to economic decision-making and policy relevant to the crisis have appeared in the Lethbridge Herald, Public Professor column.
