Biography

Alain Takam is a former Killam Scholar from Dalhousie University. His current research focuses on language in education planning, that is, language planning as it relates to the teaching and learning of minority languages in a bilingual or multilingual context. He is also interested in endangered language revitalization, contact linguistics, language variation, the sociolinguistics of translation and socio-pragmatics.
Alain has extensive teaching experience both at the high school level (2000-2005) and university level (since 2005). Prior to joining the University of Lethbridge, he has taught French as a second language and Linguistics at Dalhousie University, Mount Saint Vincent University, Saint Mary's University, Université Sainte Anne, Lakehead University and the University of Waterloo.
